Instructions for Making Challah Dough:

In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand for 10 minutes until the yeast foams. Add salt, oil, and eggs. Mix well. Gradually add flour. Knead for 7 minutes. Place dough back into bowl. Cover the dough and allow it to rise until doubled in size. About 60 to 90 minutes.

Apple Prep:

While the challah is rising. Using a peeler, remove the skin of the apple.

Cut the apple into 4 thick sections.

Using a mandoline, (always be careful when using a mandoline.) slice the apple very thin and place slices on a paper towel to absorb extra moisture. Set apple slices aside until ready to use.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Once challah dough has doubled in size, spread a little flour on the countertop and place dough on top. Cut challah dough in half. Set one half aside.

Using a rolling pin, gently, roll challah dough flat.
